Villa María has offered exciting fishing on some of the most productive pools on the lower Río Grande since 1994 and allows anglers first crack at newly arrived sea trout. If you enjoy fishing a wide river with two-handed rods it's a dream come true!
At Villa Maria you have private access to 20km of the Rio Grande. The fishing suits two-handed rods and long, flat pools, with the wind normally at your back, make it possible to cover your beat with ease. Wading is straightforward on a fine gravel bottom and to maximise your time on the river there is a cabin on the bank for lunch and a siesta.
The sea-run brown trout average around 7 to 8lb and run to over 30lb. They take small nymphs, salmon flies, dry flies or large streamers and normally floating lines with sink tips of various densities are used. A morning and an evening session are fished; the timings of the evening session will vary depending on the time of year.
The fishing guides are world class and can give casting tuition as well as having an intimate knowledge of the river.
